This work makes a focus of the hoardings round a large razed site. This site has laid empty and undeveloped for many years now. I wonder if the hotel and office blocks that they eventually build here will be anything more than the same insipid blandness of design as all the others that are springing up all over the place.

 

In the background you can see the classically derived telephone exchange building with main elevation to College Street which is a category B listed building registered on the British Listed Buildings site here. This building has been developed into fully-serviced rentable apartments. It site next to another large-scale modern residential block accessed from High Street.
